The Open Standard Identity APIs OSIA provides a suite of Open Standards Interfaces to aid in the interconnectivity between infrastructure components.
The objectives of the initiative abound, but include providing non-proprietary interfaces between components with a view to reducing or outright eliminating the nascent plague of vendor lock-in.
The NIMC serves on the Advisory Committee of the OSIA as its Chair, and thus co-ordinates the development of these interfaces which many other countries in Africa, South-east Asia and Latin America, each follow very closely.
The general overview of the OSIA components are illustrated below, and include:
The National Identity Management Commission serves as one of two foundation identity in the Country. The other being the National Population Commission (NPopC), being the Registry and Custodian of Births and Deaths. This is also known as the Population Registry, whilst NIMC serves as the Civic Registry.
The NIMC's Mobile Web Services (MWS) APIs employ the use of OSIA interfaces for the following components:
More components will come on stream as the project evolves.
